This year's gathering will have some of our traditional events and some new ones, like participating in a Marine Corps Birthday "Ball," a Veterans Day Parade, and a shooting event.
We have two hotels this year, the main one being the Radisson at Fossil Creek (we have been here before) and a Stockyard Hotel, the Hyatt Place Stockyards Hotel. All events will take place at the Radisson or will begin and end there. Reservations will be handled through the hotels themselves using our BroncoFest code for group discounts. The Radisson is $109 per night and the Hyatt $159 to $169 per night.
Activities will begin on Thursday the 9th, but we will have informal gatherings on Wednesday the 8th for early arrivals.
We are still attempting to arrange a facility tour at Lockheed or Bell. Lockheed has changed its tour policy so we may not be able to do this. Bell can only take small groups. We are looking into other alternatives. Stay tuned!
The "Flight Suit" Reception will take place at 6 PM at the Radisson. We will provide appetizers with a no-host bar. Flight suits optional, but be colorful.
Hooch opens after the reception.
The popular Aviation History Bus Tour is scheduled for 10 AM with a return about noon. Your host and historian will once again be Bill Morris, one of our directors.
We have a Defender Outdoors Shooting Center event scheduled from 2 PM to 4 PM. We will have our own lanes and range officer. Everything up to and including automatic weapons will be available (automatic weapons at additional cost).
For those who are interested to see how the other half lives, we will be taking a bus to Grapevine (near DFW) for the annual Marine Corps Ball at the Tap Inn Grill & Pub. Come join the fun! All service welcome and guarantee a good time. We will bus over and back with refreshments onboard. Depart at 6 PM and return about 10 PM.
The Hooch will open at 4 PM and remain open until Midnight at the Radisson.
Optional Friday Events
Looking for something different? These selections are on your own, but we can arrange tickets, information.
Topgolf, a new hi-tech golf range, and sports venue.
The Stockyards Championship Rodeo every Friday and Saturday night.
We will start the day with the Fort Worth Veterans Day Parade from 9 AM until about noon. Refreshments will be served.
This is a great parade with thousands marching and lots of viewers as we travel through the downtown Fort Worth area. You will be able to ride on our OH-58 Kiowa float or one of the other vehicles we will provide. Uniform not required, flight suit, flight jacket, polos, show your colors.
Arriving back at the museum we will host our traditional family picnic starting about 12:30 PM. Lunch and drinks will be served and some presentations will be made to our restoration crews. Lawn games for the kids.
The Awards Dinner will begin with a reception at 6:30 PM at the Radisson. We are planning for a Tex-Mex buffet. Dress code is casual per the uniform of the day.
Our guest of honor for this year and awards dinner speaker will be Commander Phil "Convoy" Clay USN (Ret.), the last CO of the Combat Dragon II Black Ponies who operate OV-10G+ in Iraq last year. Don't miss this special opportunity to hear about the SOCOM OV-10 operations.
We will also conduct a silent auction. Hooch to follow.
Shirts, hats, coins and such are still in the planning stages and will be available for order soon.
Transportation for BF group events will be available by bus and is included in those fees.
